My name is Sarah and I run Lingotot classes in the Cheam and Sutton area! As a Mum to two little ones (Thomas and Evie), I was looking for a career that could fit in around them whilst still enabling me to teach languages which I love!
I was a French and German teacher in a local grammar school for 10 years and was also Head of Department but I decided to launch my own children’s language business in a bid to engage youngsters in the joy of learning a foreign language at a much earlier age.
I love working with younger children as they are the perfect age for learning to speak a foreign language. I have been teaching secondary age students for the past decade but have always believed strongly that 11 is simply too old to start learning a language.
Having lived and worked in France as well as studying French and German at university I am passionate about sharing my love not only of the language but of the culture too. Whilst it’s not my mother tongue, I have been speaking French to my four year old son since he was born and have been amazed at just how quickly he has picked it up - children at this age are like little sponges.
Various teaching friends spoke to me about Lingotot and its growing reputation as a language provider so I checked out its resources and was bowled over by what they had to offer. It’s little wonder they have won so many awards; the resources have been designed specifically to engage with each age group through a mixture of song and a lot of speaking and interaction.
Lingotot is currently delivered to more than 10,000 children every week across the UK. The interactive and engaging learning format aims to introduce pre-school and primary-age children to a range of languages such as French, German, Mandarin and Spanish. The structured lessons are delivered in an interactive format to encourage understanding and instil confidence in languages at an early age.
I currently run five classes a week and am excited to be adding a baby class and a German class this autumn term.
I look forward to meeting you and your little linguists soon!
